Celebrating 1 year of thephotolab!
We’re proud to say we’ve been officially doing business for 1 year.
In July 2025 we opened for early access dropping all our money on equipment, paper stock, and advertising. There was a lot of uncertainty if any of it would take off, but clearly there was a gap in the market locally and we are so thankful for the positive reception we received in the Mount Gambier area and beyond!
In our first year, we have been able to offer:
Professional grade & fine art photo printing on stunning Ilford papers
Archival grade scanning of prints, slides, negatives & artwork
Photo restoration services that make the impossible, possible
Film processing services for the enthusiasts & the pros
Donations totaling over $1.5k to local community organisations & national charities
A lot of this wouldn’t be possible without our amazing partners in business!
First, a big shout out to Darren & Jo from Framing Solutions in Mount Gambier! As our lab is currently based from home, we still needed a publicly accessible area for our customers to drop off & collect orders. These guys were willing to jump on board without hesitation as our collection hub. Without Framing Solutions our business would significantly struggle to exist. We strongly encourage everyone to check out their massive range of framing & mounting options, or perhaps check out their massive range of home wares, women’s clothing, and gifts available in-store or online at Gypsy Come Home.
Secondly, we have to mention A.J and the team at Adelaide Photo Factory! Film processing was not originally on our list of services we planned to have available at launch, however it ended up being something we received the most messages about, so we had to do something. Most film processing equipment is old & expensive. It was too much of a risk to take so early into the business and Adelaide Photo Factory were willing to come on board as a fulfillment lab. We are incredibly thankful for their support & encourage anyone in Adelaide to pop in and visit them, situated in Twin City Camera House at Rundle Mall.
We are so thankful to everyone that has supported us in our first year and are super excited for the years ahead. This is only the beginning, we have so much for planned for the future of thephotolab and can’t wait to soon share with you some of the things that are on the horizon.
